French National Hunters Federation: nearly 1 million members in a leak resurfacing

On 2 April 2026, the French National Hunters Federation (FNC) — the umbrella body representing France's hunters and managing hunting-permit validation — saw a database of nearly one million of its members resurface for sale on the dark web. The specialist site FrenchBreaches reported that a threat actor was offering the records, which had previously circulated on cybercrime forums before reappearing on BreachForums.

The dataset stems from an unauthorized intrusion into FNC systems earlier in 2026. After analysis, the leak was found to cover 1,048,991 unique individuals, making it one of the larger breaches recently affecting a French national organization. It follows a wider pattern of attacks against French firearms holders, including the earlier compromise of the SIA firearms information system and a comparably large leak at the French Shooting Federation (FFTir).

Exposed data categories included:

• First and last names
• Dates of birth
• 799,117 complete postal addresses
• 455,103 phone numbers
• 340,849 email addresses
• Federal identification numbers and hunting-permit information

Because the records combine identity, contact and firearms-ownership details, observers warned of heightened risks of targeted phishing, identity theft and intimidation. As of reporting, no public statement from the FNC or details of any CNIL notification or law-enforcement action had been published, and the data remained in circulation.
