On 5 December 2025, Schmidt Groupe — the French manufacturer and retailer behind the Schmidt and Cuisinella kitchen and home-furnishing brands — disclosed that an unauthorized third party had gained access to customer data. The company began emailing affected customers and prospects on Friday evening, warning that their contact information may have been compromised.
The intrusion exposed contact details belonging to people who had engaged with Schmidt or Cuisinella stores. According to the company, the breach was limited to contact information; no banking data, postal addresses, passwords or identity documents were affected.
Exposed data categories:
- Title (civility)
- Last name and first name
- Phone number
- Email address
Schmidt said it immediately stopped the intrusion, launched an investigation, and applied additional security measures. The group notified France's data protection authority (CNIL) and filed a complaint with the competent authorities. The company referenced "thousands" of affected French customers but did not publish a precise figure. The disclosure came amid a broader wave of French data breaches in December 2025.
